ORIENTATION

This photographic series was taken at the Lille Europe rail station as an extension of the artist’s Anonymity performance piece, which debuted in early 2017. Situated in an urban space, a character without identity is immobilised without expression. The cube covering his face suggests a restricted mind, whose thoughts are codified. The mirror is symbolic of the construction of this thought, reflecting his environment. The architecture of the rail station is designed to accommodate a large influx of people. This series’ objective is to encourage awareness of how important the architectural environment is on individual behaviour. It is a contemplation on the possibility of freedom within an urban context.
