On the cross but cast into the void, here Christ is represented as peaceful, far from all suffering, free from his stakes and crown of thorns. Soaring upward, this timeless silhouette of Christ crucified looks over humanity by rising above our world and triumphing in his immortality. This is a reinterpretation of Salvador Dalí’s Christ of St. John of the Cross, a work evoking Man’s victory over his condition. As Christ overcame suffering to realise his own eternity, the sculpted figure ascends peacefully, a lone actor carried by the winds of victory.
