ANONYMITY

Anonymity is a photographic series recalling a performance piece by Quentin Carnaille that debuted in early 2017. Situated in a standard urban space, a character without identity is immobilised, expressionless. The cube covering his face evokes a restricted mind, whose thought is codified. The mirror symbolises his thoughts as an echo of his environment. Representing the growing standardisation of the modern individual, this work evokes how difficult it is to express individuality in a standardised architectural context. These photographs examine the importance of diversity in culture, thoughts and ideas, as well as the need for differentiation of the individual.
